PGA West Residential Association Inc. contracts with an outside vendor for the landscape maintenance. Our current contractor is Sunshine Landscape Inc. who works under the specifications of our Landscape Maintenance Agreement. These specifications include such items as tree trimming, mowing, plant replacement, fertilization schedules, etc. The mowing is done weekly except during the fall lawn over seeding period. At present, the Palmer side of the property is mowed on Thursday and the Stadium side is mowed on Friday. The regular gardening, i.e. shrub trimming, cultivating, and general cleanup are done on a ten day cycle. Tree trimming is done twice a year. The Washingtonia palms are trimmed once a year in June. Annual flowers are planted in all designated flower areas during the fall.
The Association policy is to replace any dead or missing plant material. We do not remove any healthy plant material unless it is causing a problem. If a homeowner wishes to make modifications to the landscaping they must first contact The Association and receive written permission. Please do not plant trees or shrubs without gaining Association approval first.
Work order requests will be addressed within 72 hours of the receipt of the request, excluding weekends and holidays. Emergency calls such as trees down or anything that threatens life or property will be addressed immediately.
PGA West Residential Association Inc. maintains an ‘in house’ irrigation department which employs nine full time staff members. One supervisor, two repair persons that fix wiring, valves, pipes, and main lines and six irrigators that do the regular sprinkler checks. The irrigation in most part is programmed through a central computer located in the Association's office and uses a Motorola Irrinet/Scorpio system. You are requested to fill out a service order request form at the gates or call the office if you have any irrigation problems.
The Association maintains an 'in house' pest control department. Our personnel do regular spraying on the outside of the units to control insect pests. They also maintain numerous rat bait stations throughout the property. We do set live capture traps for skunks and raccoons. We do not treat in garages or inside of units other than the attics of the condominiums (which is considered common area). You may call the office or fill out a service order request form at one of the gates if you have pest problems.
Notice: We have an infestation of RIFA (red imported fire ants). If you see ant mounds do not disturb them! They can bite and sting! Call our office and we will perform the treatment, which requires special baits, spraying will not get rid of them.
PGA West Residential Association Inc. has five decorative lakes. Three lakes are on the Palmer side of the property and two are on the Stadium side. The lakes are maintained by the pest control department. We regularly inspect the lakes for excessive debris, weeds, and algae. We use few chemicals in our lakes other than a colorant to reduce algae growth. Fishing is permitted in our lakes by homeowners and their guests. No swimming or boating is permitted.
